Nail Trends for Fall: it’s all about Scotland!

Are you as excited for fall as we are? With summer drawing to a close and school back in session, it’s nearly impossible to not start daydreaming about cooler weather and pumpkin spice everything. And while it may still be WAY too hot to break out the sweaters and scarves, it’s not too early to try out some of fall’s coolest nail trends.

OPI’s Scotland Collection is one of our favorite fall collections of all time, and we swear it’s not because we’re obsessed with Outlander. While all of these colors are fantastic, the rich plummy eggplant of “Good Girls Gone Plaid,” the gorgeous sparkly red of “A Little Guilt Under the Kilt,” and the soft pink of “You’ve Got That Glas-Glow” are definite standouts.

You can view all the colors in the collection here:

Negative Space and Geometric Designs

But what about design trends? Negative space nail art is back in a big way, often in combination with geometric designs. This versatile look fits nicely with two other styles you can try: angled French manicures and wavy nail art designs.

Minimalism

Similarly, minimalist nail art is also very popular right now, like these designs by one of our incredibly talented nail technicians, Claudia:

‘80s and 90s Inspired Designs

From clothing to nail art to nostalgic TV shows, throwbacks to the 80s and early 90s are huge right now. One of the most popular nail trends are black nails with iridescent glitter flakes in various colors, reminiscent of your favorite Lisa Frank gear from elementary school. Glitter overlays are also incorporated in opalescent, mermaid-inspired designs, and a resurgence in popularity of “galaxy nails,” something I kind of want to immediately try.
